Is it wrong to say that I adore this quilt?It has every element that I love in quilts. It’s scrappy – but carefully chosen, in shades of blue & brown taupe’s.It uses a mix of woven & print fabrics, which adds to the interest. And it contains simple but interesting blocks.
It’s subtle, stylish, warm & comforting to look at.
There are two basic blocks – one made up of four Ohio stars
And the other block is a fragmented star with a solid centre.
I have made the two centre blocks in the quilt a little different by replacing the plain centre square with a single Ohio star. I shall name it Kensington Star block.
The Ohio star blocks are framed with a border to compliment the Kensington Star blocks and also to bring them up to the same finished size of 10”
The border is strip pieced with pairs of stars between.
Also shown is a brighter version I made for an adorable little girl in soft teals & apricots.
The finished quilt measures 45” x 56” but can easily be enlarged by adding more blocks.
